Soy has been in the healthy aisle of the supermarket for years now. While most people walk past it and consider it only an ingredient for those who are obsessed with healthy foods, the truth is that it is suitable for all of us. Soy has many amazing health benefits and by including it in your diet you could see a range of positives in your health. Read on to learn exactly why you need to start consuming soy.
Before I dive in, I should give a slight warning. Soy has been found to contain something called isoflavones. This ingredient is similar to estrogen and it can be dangerous if consumed in too high amounts. Some studies suggest that consuming too much soy can increase the risk of cancer, impair female fertility, and upset the thyroid. With that in mind, while we would encourage people to consume a little soy and make it part of their diet, don’t go overboard. Too much of anything is a bad thing and that is clearly true when it comes to soy.
Still, there are clear benefits to consuming soy in small amounts. If you worry about the health of your heart, as we all should, then you should start to introduce a little soy in your diet. Soya milk is great for lowering your cholesterol levels and increasing your lipid levels. These are two ingredients to a healthy heart and studies show that it is effective in preventing heart disease.
Stress is one of the leading killers in the modern world. While we are all caught up with our daily lives, trying to juggle work, life, and more it shouldn’t be that way. While stress is often caused by mental anxiety there are chemical causes too. If you suffer from stress try and exercise more, eat a healthier diet, sleep better as these are the best ways to combat stress. A soya-rich diet has also been shown to reduce hyperpigmentation in the skin. This means that your skin will show fewer signs of stress and aging. One less thing to worry about.
If you are at the age where your hair is starting to recede or if you just have frizzy hair that you struggle to manage, soy may hold the solution. Soya milk is rich in protein that can positively impact hair growth.
Soy is also great for your bones. While moving away from milk may leave people concerned about the calcium in their diet, fear not, soy has plenty of calcium too. Drinking calcium can give you better bone health and ensure you are using a good skeleton for years to come.
A lot of people ask us what the best way to consume soy is. The truth is that you can use it as a replacement for standard milk in any recipe making it very versatile. However, if you want something uniquely soy then we recommend soya kesar milk.
To make this pleasant dish simply soak a pinch of saffron in 2 tablespoons of lukewarm water for 6 minute. Then add a quarter cup of pistachios, 1 banana, some cardamom powder, 2 cups of soya milk and 2 tsps of sugar all into a blender. Blend until you create a smooth consistency and serve straight away.
While there are some risks with soy that we need to be aware of, it has a lot of health benefits as well. Embrace a small amount of soy into your diet and start to reap the rewards of a healthier way of life. There are some fantastic soy based recipes out there that will not only enrich your health but your taste experience too.
